See you in 2020

It’s time to step off the stage and leave the spotlight to Santa.
Thank you all for reading, and I hope to see you again for a spectacular 2020.

On May 27th, 2019, I sent the first Standing Oration issue called Public Speaking in a Global World, which I think, in hindsight, is an awful title.
The title doesn’t hint at the content at all. If I had received an email with such a boisterous title, I’m not even sure I’d have opened it. To my luck, the 186 subscribers we had at the time thought differently, and we kept posting. Thank you.
As I am writing this, we’re 3199 speakers subscribed to these emails. That makes me happy. We can get very far together in 2020.
I guess the takeaways are that beginnings can be small, consistency creates rewards, and most importantly - there is a need for speakers to gather and share knowledge, frustrations, and ideas.
So that is the gameplan for 2020.
There are still too many speakers, fighting the same battles in each their silo. It’s a lonely way to go about the job, and it hinders the professional development of markets, speakers, and professionalism in the marketplace.
Yes, speaking is a great product,
Yes, you can improve your stage presence,
and you should absolutely get paid for your work.
Remember, you can connect with your fellow speakers even more closely at Speakersloft.com - or of course, you can keep reading here. In either way, I look forward to seeing you on the other side of the holidays.
I want you all to have peaceful, loving holidays, and I hope to see you again in 2020.
Best,
Kristian
P.S. In case you’re in a procrastinating mood, here are the highlights from 2019:
