The title doesn’t hint at the content at all. If I had received an email with such a boisterous title, I’m not even sure I’d have opened it. To my luck, the 186 subscribers we had at the time thought differently, and we kept posting. Thank you.
As I am writing this, we’re 3199 speakers subscribed to these emails. That makes me happy. We can get very far together in 2020.
I guess the takeaways are that beginnings can be small, consistency creates rewards, and most importantly - there is a need for speakers to gather and share knowledge, frustrations, and ideas.
So that is the gameplan for 2020.
There are still too many speakers, fighting the same battles in each their silo. It’s a lonely way to go about the job, and it hinders the professional development of markets, speakers, and professionalism in the marketplace.
Yes, speaking is a great product,
Yes, you can improve your stage presence,
and you should absolutely get paid for your work.
